Startec Expansion Brings Together Two Divisions Under One New Roof

May 15, 2018

CALGARY, ALBERTA (May 15, 2018) – Startec is pleased to announce that as of May 15, the two divisions of the company have moved to a larger, more purpose-fit facility in southeast Calgary. The new location brings together Startec Compression & Process and Startec Service under one roof.

“It was a bold move and one that aligned with our goals to provide better solutions for our customers,” said Kristi Cawthorn, President Compression & Process. “In addition to receiving great value in the current real estate market, we believe our new facilities will provide operational and cost efficiencies as well as stimulate even more collaboration and teamwork. This benefits both our customers and our business by providing superior solutions at a very competitive price.”

In recent years, Startec has been operating at over-capacity. The expansive new 102,000 square-foot facility supports our continued growth, allows us to build larger equipment and be more cost efficient for our customers. Startec’s support of Montney and Duvernay developments include the manufacturing of gas processing equipment such as NGL recovery plants, stabilizers, amine sweetening units and gas dehydration units.

The new space boasts a total of 145 tons of crane lifting capacity with an approximate 38-foot under hook height, one of the highest lifting capabilities in the city, allowing the packaging of multi-layered modules under roof. There is also more than 16 acres of yard space for staging and storage, and a direct access rail line.

The new facility has undergone a multi-million dollar upgrade, including the electrical system with energy efficient lighting, new cranes, and full office renovations including our Everyday Maverick Lounge where the Startec team can socialize together.

Despite the contraction of much of the industry, Startec has chosen to take a different path and expand in a significant way. Explains Joel Cawthorn, President of Startec Service, “We have faith in the Alberta economy long-term and are driven to capitalize on the market dynamics we face today to strengthen our position moving forward.”
