Startec is a long-term growth partner for a Canadian-born success story.
Since the 1980s Startec has played an integral role in the operation and expansion of VersaCold's storage and distribution facilities throughout Alberta.
We have led numerous upgrade and expansion projects at VersaCold facilities in Edmonton, Calgary and Lethbridge. As VersaCold has responded to the changing needs of its customer base, Startec has installed new blast freezers, designed new warehouse refrigeration systems and transformed former storage areas into full scale processing operations.
Startec has also designed and built new facilities for VersaCold.
In the mid 1990s we designed and built the refrigeration system for the Great Plains Distribution Centre, VersaCold's largest Alberta facility. We equipped the 6.1 million cubic foot facility with variable speed compression equipment - which at the time was new breakthrough technology - to maximize energy efficiency.
In 2005 VersaCold commissioned Startec to build the refrigeration system for Lethbridge North, a 2.1 million cubic foot multi-use facility. Lethbridge North is equipped to handle vegetable as well as pork production, along with frozen meat storage.
Originally founded as B.C. Ice and Cold Storage Ltd. on the Vancouver waterfront, VersaCold now operates the largest cold storage network in the world with more than 120 temperature-controlled facilities across North America, Argentina, New Zealand and Australia.
