Startec is a vital contributor to world-class bobsled and luge competitions at Calgary's Canada Olympic Park.
Startec provided original start up services when the luge and bobsled track first went into operation for the XV Olympic Winter Games. And we've maintained the facility ever since.
We also designed and constructed the refrigeration plant for the Ice House, a year round training facility for practicing race starts.
Our latest assignment is replacing the now obsolete original trim compressors on the main track. New generation equipment will maintain ice quality when only a moderate level of refrigeration is required. Because they require less electricity to operate, the new high-efficiency trim compressors will lower track operating costs.
The Canada Olympic Park track is a high performance training and competition facility that regularly hosts World Cup events. It also provides adrenalin-seeking tourists the opportunity to experience bobsled thrills firsthand.
In a 60 second ride, bobsledders experience speeds in excess of 120 kilometers per hour and an acceleration force of 5 Gs.
The fun is made possible by Startec- maintained refrigeration systems.
