Defining Your Requirements

Our approach is to work closely with you in a three step specification development process:

1. Scope out Core System Requirements for horsepower, input and output pressure, etc.
2. Conduct In-depth Investigation of field conditions, safety and operating parameters. This investigation determines whether a pre-engineered package or a complete custom solution is the best fit for your application.
3. Develop Detailed Specification

1. Core System Requirements

The specification development process begins with determining the core system requirements. Startec creates compression packages within the following ranges;

• Flows: 0.2 to 50 MMSCFD
• Horsepower: 30 to 3000
• Inlet Pressure: 0 psig to 500 psig
• Discharge Pressure: Up to 1100 psig
• Fluids: sweet/sour .6 to 1.2 S.G.

2. In-depth Investigation

Startec's In-depth Investigation examines the field conditions where the system will be deployed and any special standards or requirements you may have. We discuss safety, operating parameters, maintenance issues, budget and delivery timetable. We meet with you to explore an important list of questions to determine final specifications.

The list of issues to address includes:

• Where is the system to be located? How far is it from the nearest residence?
• Does the gas contain any corrosive elements? What type and what concentrations?
• What is the current field pressure? When is the field pressure expected to decrease? By what percentage?
• Do you require variable speed control to adjust to changes in field pressure or production quotas? (Commodity compressor units typically have two speeds, either on or off.)
• Do you want to be able to monitor performance remotely?
• Do you want to be able to control the system from an adjacent building?
• Do you want the system to automatically adjust to changes in operating conditions?
• How long do you want the equipment to last?
• How important is it to minimize operating costs?
• What are the financial implications of equipment failure?

3. Detailed Specification

Equipped with the answers to these issues, we then develop a Detailed Specification that documents all components:

• Compressor
• Driver - electric or gas powered
• Instrumentation package
• Control panel
• Pressure vessels
• Blow case
• Piping
• Aerial cooler

With the Detailed Specification completed, we determine if the application requires a modified Fit for Purpose Solution or a Fully Customized Design. Then we design and build the system to fit your exact specifications.
